Hybridoma Technology Introduction

Introduction-

Hybridoma means a hybrid cell which made up by the fusion of two different cells. in this technology hybridoma cell produced by a myeloma cell (cancer cells) and other is B- cell (antibody producing cell) and fusion of these cells produce monoclonal antibodies which have both types of nature like high growing capacity like cancer cells and antibody nature like antibody B cell. in 1975 first Georges J.F. Kohler and Cesar milestone established the base of monoclonal antibody in the lab (tissue culture).

HUMAN HYBRIDOMA

Production-

in the production of hybridoma cells a B- lymphocytes fused with myeloma cancer-causing cell through somatic fusion technique. for the fusion of both cells, many techniques used like electric pules, chemicals or many other inducers witch promote to the fusion of both cells in in-vitro conditions.

Advantages-

Monoclonal antibodies used in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease. for example that helps in clinical field to identify to a different type of leukaemia. and another side they used to define cell surface markers that lead to the differentiation of cells on the basis of markers. these also used in the detection of any type of disorder of the human body and many tests to identify antigens.

ANIMAL CELL CULTURE TECHNIQUES

Drawbacks-Three major drawbacks of this technology are

  • That is costly techniques so used by highest organizations or for research.
  • Take a long time to produce monoclonal antibodies.
  • Some time harmful mutation appear because of somatic fusion.
